• This copper-silicon alloy is used to weld similar composition base metals, brass, and to weld these copper alloys to steel.
• Silicon bronze is also frequently used in GMAW “braze welding” of coated sheet steels.
• Surfacing area subject to erosion
• Joining copper, copper-silicon and copper-zincs to themselves or steel
• A chemical analysis of Copper and Zinc as well as alloying elements of 3% Silicon and small amounts of Tin and Manganese produce welds with excellent mechanical properties
• High strength, ductile and sound welds are easily attained by using a neutral or slightly oxidizing flame.
• Keep the weld pool small to promote fast solidification and minimize cracking.
• A high Boric acid brazing flux is required for Oxy-Acetylene brazing
